A PP spray tower is a waste gas treatment device made of polypropylene (PP) material, primarily used to purify dust and harmful gases generated during industrial production. Its operating principle is based on a gas-liquid contact and absorption purification process. The core steps are as follows:
1. Waste Gas Intake
Waste gas containing pollutants (such as dust, acidic/alkaline gases, and organic waste gases) is introduced into the bottom of the spray tower through a pipe, where it is driven upward by a fan.
2. Spray Liquid Atomization
The spray system at the top of the tower (typically consisting of a spray pump and nozzles) pressurizes the absorption liquid (selected based on the properties of the waste gas, such as clean water, alkaline solution, acidic solution, or specialized chemicals). The atomized liquid is then atomized into fine droplets through the nozzles and evenly sprayed downward.
3. Gas-Liquid Contact and Purification
Rising exhaust gas fully contacts the descending atomized droplets, causing various purification reactions:
- Physical absorption: Dust particles are adsorbed by the droplets and fall with the liquid.
- Chemical neutralization: If the exhaust gas contains acidic substances (such as sulfur dioxide), they can react with an alkaline absorption liquid (such as sodium hydroxide solution) to produce harmless substances;
- Dissolution absorption: Some gases that are easily soluble in water (such as ammonia) are directly absorbed by the water.
4. Gas-Liquid Separation
The purified gas rises to the top of the tower and passes through a demister (such as a baffle or screen) to remove entrained droplets and prevent secondary contamination. The clean gas is finally discharged from the top of the tower.
5. Waste Liquid Treatment
The waste liquid that has absorbed pollutants is collected in a sump at the bottom of the tower and can be recycled (replenishing reagents is required) or discharged after treatment, depending on the situation.
The corrosion resistance of PP makes it suitable for treating waste gas containing acids and alkalis. Its simple overall structure and high purification efficiency make it widely used in industries such as chemical processing, electroplating, and coating.
